Job Description

At Wise, our customers trust us when it comes to their Privacy and our in-house Privacy team is growing.

The Global Privacy Team looks after all jurisdictions and you’ll be expected to take ownership of projects from Day 1 with genuine autonomy - one of the things that makes Wise different and exciting.

We are looking for a talented individual who brings a privacy mindset to program management, operations, oversight and compliance. You’ll be faced with a huge variety of privacy challenges. You’ll help design and implement operational compliance processes that meet the privacy expectations of our customers and comply with data protection regulations globally.

You’ll be encouraged to develop relationships with other Wisers all the way up to senior management. By gaining the trust of internal teams, you’ll be involved in their projects from start to finish.

Along the way, you’ll benefit from the support of a tight-knit Privacy team, the wider Legal tribe and the other teams at Wise - everyone wants to help you live your best life at Wise and contribute to the Wise Mission.

What You’ll Work On

Once you are in the role you will:

  • Play a key role in the Global Privacy Team, focusing on operational execution of privacy initiatives.

  • Design and implement processes to support the objectives of the global privacy program

  • Run day to day privacy and data related operations

  • Partner with all key business areas to deliver group-wide projects for operationalizing privacy, security and information governance requirements

  • Support periodic audits of data protection and information security compliance

  • Assist with incident response and data breach management

  • Support group wide privacy risk management, including creating mechanisms for monitoring progress and milestones in privacy work and ensuring leadership is aware of status and progress

  • Drive consistency of processes across privacy workstreams and deliver metrics to support identification of trends and issues

  • Set priorities, multi-task and work independently in a dynamic rapidly changing work environment.

What You’ll Bring To The table:

  • 2+ years work experience in legal, consulting or compliance operations, with experience of implementing cross functional programs in privacy

  • Good working knowledge and experience of EU and UK Data Protection and Privacy laws and regulations as well as industry standards and frameworks - you will enjoy bringing the subject of privacy to life for people with a bit of lightness along the way

  • Aptitude and ability to deep dive into technical features to advise and educate business teams on privacy requirements, data usage operations and security

  • You will be a self-starter with strong project management skills - you’ll be able to work independently and as part of a team to push through walls to get it done, you will have the ability to provide reports, metrics and trends to drive continuous improvement.

  • A creative problem solver - you will like looking under carpets and around corners and finding simple solutions to seemingly hairy problems.

  • You’ll be comfortable working in the grey and making judgement calls at speed.  Obsessive about detail and happy handling competing priorities and differences of opinion, you will be a team player, with a strong sense of self, the comfort to work autonomously with the desire and will to make a difference.

  • An exceptional communicator - you’ll be able to use a range of communication and influencing techniques to successfully negotiate, collaborate or effect change, in relation to data protection and privacy matters with different stakeholders at all levels within the business (e.g. business, legal, IT, security…).

Desirable

  • Relevant privacy qualification, such as CIPM, CIPP, CIPT or equivalent.

  • Hands-on experience of global privacy laws

  • Experience of working in a fast paced global technology or regulated payments business

  • Knowledge of Programming Languages such as Python/SQL
