We’ve already partnered with 85+ banks, FinTechs and other enterprises, opening up the benefits of Wise’s payments infrastructure to millions of their end customers around the world. Now we’re looking to take Wise Platform’s scale to the next level, which is where you come in as a Product Compliance & Risk Manager.
We’re looking for a Product Compliance & Risk Manager to work alongside our Wise Platform Product team, to support an expanding team of Product Managers, Engineers, Implementation Managers, Business Development and Account Managers to help grow Wise Platform Partnerships in APAC.
Your primary focus will be to help Wise Platform identify and effectively manage regulatory and financial crime compliance risks across a range of existing and new markets and integrations globally. This role is hands-on, a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission and help save millions more people money.
Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Your mission is to enable our Wise Platform team to launch new products and partnerships globally, through a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and regulators’ expectations around them. Through Wise Platform, banks, FinTechs and other enterprises can integrate with our platform and offer Wise’s industry-leading international payments services to their customers.
This is a first line Product Compliance & Risk role, embedded in the APAC Product Squad. Your scope will include:
Creating and improving our amazing products for partners in a compliant way:
Develop a deep understanding of regulatory needs in APAC and work with the Product team to translate these into solutions that enable compliant product innovation and commercial viability with partners.
Perform regulatory analysis of new products and partnerships ensuring proper controls are implemented before launch.
Enable Product teams to adopt a risk-based approach in developing products, processes and controls.
Regulatory risk and remediation:
By understanding both the Wise product deeply enough and the local regulatory expectations, support the Wise Platform team (e.g. implementation managers, account managers) and other teams on how to interpret regulatory requirements, improve processes and our product to avoid regulatory breaches and/or incidents; and
In collaboration with second line Compliance and Risk teams, identify and align on the main regulatory issues and risks in APAC for Wise Platform products and partnerships. Present this in a very clear and understandable way to the wider teams, to work with them on defining the solutions and how this should be executed.
Maintain an enterprise-wide view of risks:
Escalate breaches and high rated risks to Compliance Oversight in order to help maintain an enterprise wide view of Wise’s regulatory risk environment with regard to our partnerships;
Identify related risk typologies and ensure that the relevant specialist teams (i.e. Financial Crime, Privacy, Treasury, Finance) have provided input into the product and deal lifecycle;
Assist Product Teams in developing and maintaining track of relevant risks across their product, including mitigation plans, action owners and timelines to completion.
Minimally you should possess the following:
Expertise in regulatory and fincrime compliance with previous experience in a FinTech, financial institution, regulatory advisory or product/ program management function managing risk and compliance products;
Ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively;
Ability to prioritise effectively and call-out what are the key areas of improvement and implementation required from a regulatory point of view;
Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions;
A natural owner, that drives and delivers project from inception to completion, proactively, timely and with attention to the details; and
Ability to organise and manage multiple workstreams and global stakeholders in a high-speed environment.
