We need an experienced Backend Engineer to join our mission and help us build a global platform that’s scalable, reliable and secure. We’re working on lots of exciting challenges, and you’ll dive right into projects helping consumers and businesses receive and send money from anywhere in the world.

Organic Growth team maintains and develops some of Wise’s most visited pages. We make sure that these pages provide high quality content, and our services perform well under a lot of traffic.

How we work

We build products that will make customer acquisition eventually free. We do that by building systems that allow us to build a large number of pages at scale, while making sure that the quality of these pages stays high. This is accomplished through maintaining and improving internal content management systems, as well as through integration with 3rd party data providers. 

What will you be working on?

• Building scalable systems, as they serve a large portion of Wise’s traffic

• Collaborate with the security team on strengthening our security posture

• Participate in a team on-call rotation

What do you need?

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more, we do want to hear from you!

• You have solid Java knowledge, experience with Spring framework and microservice best practices

• The ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audience

• You enjoy writing testable, easy to extend, high-quality code

• Experience Distributed and Concurrent Systems

• Hands on knowledge of microservice architecture patterns

Nice to have: 

• A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points 

• Advocate for best coding practices, code reviews and open feedback
