Working with the Product teams (Product Managers, Analysts and Engineers), you will help define the opportunities for our products in Türkiye and in other markets in the Middle East & Africa, and will help build better products and experiences for our customers. You will collaborate across teams and inspire others so that we deliver the best solution. Your contribution will mainly be from the payments infrastructure, regulatory and operational banking partnerships point of view.
Maintain and improve existing relationships with banks and other financial institutions in Türkiye and across the rest of the region, and build new relationships. This refers primarily to our transaction banking agreements, which let us build and expand our product, and you'll have a high level of autonomy in optimizing these. You will:
Support senior bankers in the commercial and relationship discussions with partners to ensure we offer the most sustainable and competitive service in the market.
Create new opportunities within existing relationships with financial institutions in Türkiye and other countries within the Middle East & Africa region to ensure we continuously improve our product (i.e. improve speed, reduce costs, improve convenience, add more visibility to our transactions, etc.).
Work with regional and product teams to open new relationships with relevant financial institutions (i.e. banks, payment processors, cards acquirers, etc.).
Support senior bankers in managing the end-to-end process of onboarding new partners: find the right potential partners, pitch Wise as a client, negotiate the commercial agreements and contracts, complete account opening forms, explain our compliance processes, pass due diligence, and do anything else needed to be ready for development.
Deepening our regulatory infrastructure.
With the guidance from senior bankers, identify the most appropriate way to grow Wise in the region, with a focus on Türkiye. If we need new licenses or additional regulatory approvals, you will need to manage the process end-to-end: understand the regulations, prepare, coordinate the application with internal teams, and get the regulatory buy-in as well as support the fulfillment of any other local requirements for the license applications.
Manage our day to day relationships with regulators and other important non-commercial relationships in conjunction with our Compliance and Government Relations teams.
Understand existing and new regulations and figure out new opportunities and the best ways our product can comply with them in collaboration with Compliance. You will be one of the product team’s go-to people for regulatory knowledge. We see regulation as an opportunity!
Must be business fluent in English. Turkish business fluency is highly preferred and advantageous.
Familiar with how corporate banks and financial institutions work. You excel at managing relationships, and are constantly creating opportunities to improve them
Familiar with how financial and payments regulators work.
Have a keen interest in taking on projects or partnerships, and eager to learn about countries/markets you haven’t dealt with before
An analytical thinker. Able to independently negotiate the most ideal terms with a clear product vision and understanding in mind and you can figure out the ideal operational and commercial process
Self-starter who is able to get stuff done and do proactive problem solving. Not afraid to get hands dirty to deliver what is needed - we’re a fast-growing company and you will need an entrepreneurial and solution-oriented mindset to thrive
A very good communicator who can articulate well and work with geographically spread internal teams across different time zones in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America
It would be ideal, but not essential if you:
Understand financial regulation in Türkiye, or have experience working with financial regulators in Türkiye
Understand financial regulation in one or more other countries within the region
Understand how local and international payments work (specific knowledge of Middle East and Africa payment systems would be a plus)
