Job Description

We’re looking for a Cards Operations Settlement and Billing Lead to join our team in the Tallinn office. This role is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a leader of our Operations teams and help save millions more people money.  Your mission is to develop a strong Operations team and support specialists on their personal growth paths.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Operations Team:

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing global card operations team across Singapore and Tallinn.
  • Develop individual growth, track team metrics, align with goals/KPIs.
  • Foster accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Present team progress in payment organization reviews.
  • Act as first-level escalation point for internal/external partners.

Optimizing Team Capacity and Processes:

  • Plan resources to ensure operational SLAs are met.
  • Lead Operational quarterly planning, aligning with Product’s strategy.
  • Manage team capacity for prioritized initiatives based on impact and urgency.
  • Proactively identifies automation opportunities for manual operational tasks and contributes to long-term automation strategy for scalability.

Continuous focus on low-cost and compliance operational pillars:

  • Lead the team to perpetually improve settlement processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to financial compliance standards.
  • Champion initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of scheme fee management, directly contributing to cost optimization and financial integrity.
  • Oversee the team's adherence to all relevant financial regulations and internal controls within both settlement and billing functions, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to support broader organizational initiatives related to payment processing, risk management, and scheme relationships.

You’ll ensure the health and productivity of the specialists within your teams by helping to set the right culture and implement the right approaches. We don’t believe in drama, only good Karma!
  • Work Globally - You’ll work closely with internal and external partners and help to figure out ways to make our customers’ lives better. You’ll also occasionally travel to work and learn with our teams in other locations!

Qualifications

  • You’re eligible to work in Estonia, we don’t support visa nor relocation support (including residency permits) for this role.
  • You have at least 1 year of leadership experience - background in (payment) operations is a nice to have.
  • You’re comfortable working within teams that face complex issues and take charge in difficult situations, such as engineers or product teams.
  • You have experience optimizing processes with internal and external partners, focusing on KPIs and SLAs.
  • You prioritize customers and take initiative to drive results. 
  • A strong communicator, you adapt your style to different audiences and use data to prioritize tasks that add value. 
  • You foster an open, collaborative team environment and are passionate about technology and customer experience. 
  • Skilled at building relationships, you work closely with product teams and external partners, staying curious and committed to learning.
