Job Description

At Wise, we’re building money without borders — and that starts with our people. We’re looking for a Senior Employee Relations Advisor to join our team in São Paulo, supporting Wisers across the Americas — including Brazil, Mexico, the U.S., and other parts of Latin America.

In this role, you’ll combine strategic thinking, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence to help Wisers and leaders navigate complex challenges, resolve issues early, and scale our People practices with empathy and integrity. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor, coach, investigator, and collaborator — ensuring that how we support our people reflects Wise’s values and meets local legal standards. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to influence and shape global ER practices across Wise.

Your mission

You’ll be the first point of contact for sensitive people matters — the trusted voice leaders turn to when the stakes are high. Whether supporting workplace investigations, addressing behavioral or performance concerns, or building scalable processes for how we work, you’ll lead with clarity, fairness, and care.

This role blends advisory, coaching, and investigation responsibilities, helping teams navigate cross-border complexities with cultural awareness and business pragmatism. You’ll think critically, act with empathy, and bring integrity and structure to sensitive or ambiguous situations — always balancing compliance with a people-first approach.

You’ll also play a key role in global collaboration, contributing to the evolution of our ER strategy across regions. Your insights will help align Wise-wide practices, share learnings, and build scalable ER capabilities worldwide.

 What you’ll be doing

  • Independently manage complex ER cases across Brazil, Mexico, the U.S., and other LATAM countries — including investigations, whistleblower matters, performance, conduct, accommodations, attendance, policy guidance, and issues involving legal or regulatory risk

  • Act as a Workplace Investigator, conducting fair, timely, and thorough reviews in alignment with Wise’s global standards and regional labor laws

  • Provide real-time, high-trust support on sensitive people issues — coaching leaders to take thoughtful, effective action

  • Resolve concerns early and informally where possible — guiding Wisers and Leads toward practical, people-centered outcomes

  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and People Partners to assess risk and ensure we operate in line with Wise’s values and local requirements

  • Use ER data to surface trends, risks, and cultural insights — influencing decisions and shaping better policies

  • Lead and contribute to global and regional ER initiatives — including policy design, ER process scaling, case management improvements, training, and cross-border alignment projects

  • Deliver and improve training and tools that help managers lead with clarity, fairness, and consistency

  • Review and maintain regional employee guidelines and processes, ensuring compliance with Brazilian CLT, Mexican labor law, U.S. practices, and broader regional norms

  • Collaborate across the global People team to align practices and build shared ER knowledge and infrastructure at scale

Qualifications

This role is for you if you:

  • Have 5–7 years of experience as an ER/HR Advisor or Employee Relations professional, supporting complex people matters across multiple jurisdictions

  • Are a confident investigator, experienced in handling sensitive cases related to performance, conduct, attendance, accommodations, and policy violations

  • Have a strong working knowledge of Brazilian labor law (CLT)and U.S. employment practices; familiarity with Mexican labor law and broader LATAM experience is a plus

  • Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to navigate cultural nuances across different time zones

  • Are known for your emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and calm, solutions-oriented approach under pressure

  • Can coach leaders at all levels, helping them lead with empathy, accountability, and business awareness

  • Are comfortable working in ambiguous or high-stakes environments, using sound judgment to guide decisions

  • Use data and insights to inform your approach — helping build proactive, scalable systems

  • Are confident using tools like Workday, Slack, Google Suite, and Lucidchart and quick to adapt to new platforms

Bonus if you have:

  • Fluency in Spanish, in addition to  English and Portuguese

  • Experience working in hybrid, global organizations, especially those scaling or operating across multiple regions

  • A track record of navigating cross-cultural ER issues across regions like EMEA, APAC, or beyond
