The Group Financial Crime Risk Senior Manager will support the second line in providing constructive challenge and oversight of financial crime risks across the organisation. This includes responsibility for enabling proactive risk management through the development and continuous review of KRIs, financial crime risk frameworks and methodologies. In addition, this role will look to support the development of dashboards to monitor MI, provide MI reports at global and regional levels and support first line teams to ensure financial crime risk controls operate effectively.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic;
Continuous review and enhancement of second line policies, frameworks and methodologies, with a particular focus on Wise’s Financial Crime Risk Assessment, Country and Industry Risk Assessment.
Lead strategic projects from the second line’s perspective to enhance how Wise proactively assesses and manages financial crime risk both in terms of taxonomy and oversight of execution of the risk assessments performed by regional compliance teams following the methodologies set by Group.
Support the uplift of Wise’s financial crime risk methodologies with a particular focus on how Wise can strategically use the data to enhance its customer risk assessments and due diligence processes and the models associated with these risk assessments.
Drive strategic alignment and integration of the financial crime risk domain with Wise’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
Lead and coordinate the annual review of Wise’s Tier 1 obligations register.
Risk management;
Periodic reporting for Senior Management Committees including check and challenge to ensure risks remain within the defined risk appetite.
Support the continuous uplift of KRIs and maintain second line oversight on the management and remediation of KRI breaches.
Provide second line support in developing, documenting and monitoring financial crime control effectiveness.
Lead thematic deep dives into new financial crime trends and their impact on Wise.
Support the regions to ensure the timely delivery of the annual financial crime risk assessment for all entities.
Incident and issue management;
Support the management of issues and incidents providing second line oversight on classification, management and remediation of financial crime issues and incidents, including reporting and ongoing monitoring of the remediation actions.
Lead the coordination of global read-across work for issues identified at local entity level by CMT, IA and/or Regulators.
- Experience: Proven experience in financial crime compliance and/or risk, with a specific focus on enterprise-wide risk management and financial crime risk assessment methodologies.
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of global financial crime regulations, data analysis and interpretation, with a particular focus on financial crime typologies, taxonomies and control frameworks. SQL and LLM knowledge and experience is beneficial.
Leadership: Experience in leading strategic financial crime projects enabling compliant growth of a key business area. Adept at collaborating cross-functionally to meet multi-jurisdictional requirements.
Skills: Excellent communication, analytical and leadership skills. Ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders. Solution-oriented approach to challenging and supporting the first line.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, finance or other related areas. Additional certifications such as CAMS or ICA are beneficial.
