Job Description

The Group FC Incidents and Issue Mgmt Lead will own the global strategy for managing financial crime-related incidents and issues at Wise. This role is responsible for the oversight, governance, and reporting of all financial crime incidents and issues globally, ensuring proper root cause identification, remediation, and tracking of all matters. The successful candidate will provide domain expertise to the 1st Line of Defense (1LoD) regarding issue management, ensuring risks are understood and mitigated appropriately. Additionally, the role will provide regular updates and Management Information (MI) to Compliance Officers (COs) and the Financial Crime Risk Committee (FCRC).

Incident and Issue Management;

  • Oversight of all financial crime issues and incidents globally: Ensure all incidents are consistently logged across Wise with an accurate root cause analysis, appropriate remediation actions and clearly defined timelines for resolution. Focus on governance, ensuring adherence to standardised incident management processes and timely follow-up.

  • Provide domain expertise: Advise the 1LoD on specific issues by diagnosing the root cause and recommending effective remediation actions. Ensure that the risks are fully understood and that mitigation strategies are both practical and aligned with Wise’s risk tolerance.

Governance and Compliance;

  • Building and managing Jira for Incident and Issue Management: Take ownership of the development and improvement of Jira for tracking financial crime incidents and issues, including the creation of dashboards for real-time reporting, governance, and Management Information (MI). Ensure that resource assessments are integrated into the system for effective workload management. Oversee governance and reporting processes within Jira to ensure accurate MI is available for senior management decision making.

  • Ensure proper governance and tracking: All issues and incidents must be logged in Wise’s issues management system and tracked through to resolution. Ensure appropriate governance is followed for remediation efforts, escalate unresolved issues as necessary.

  • Ownership of incident and issue logging: Take responsibility for ensuring that all incidents and issues are logged accurately in Wise’s issues management system, with root cause analysis and remediation actions clearly defined.

Management Information (MI);

  • Develop and deliver MI: Create MI related to financial crime incidents and issues and deliver regular updates to Compliance Officers (COs) and the Financial Crime Risk Committee (FCRC). Ensure that MI reports are accurate and reflect the current state of incidents, trends, and remediation progress.

  • Continuous updates: Provide ongoing updates on the status of incidents and issues to ensure senior management has clear visibility on financial crime risks and the effectiveness of remediation efforts.

Product and Business Support;

  • Support the global FinCrime team: Provide expertise and advice on issues management for product and business teams, ensuring that issues are escalated, logged, and resolved in alignment with global financial crime compliance requirements.

  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with other teams (e.g., CMT, HR, 1LoD) to ensure proper incident and issue management processes are in place and functioning effectively.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: several proven years in financial crime compliance, risk management, or incident management, with a track record of handling global financial crime-related issues and incidents.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial crime regulations (AML, CTF, etc.) and the root cause analysis and remediation processes related to incident management.

  • Leadership: Proven experience leading incident and issue management in a global organisation, providing expertise on issue resolution and collaborating with senior management and other departments.

  • Skills: Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and ensure proper governance and compliance.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, or related fields. Relevant certifications (e.g., ACAMS, ICA) are preferred.
