Job Description

As Wise Platform continues to scale globally, we are looking for someone to share our passion of building a fast growing global product to achieve the highest standards in fighting financial crime.

This role is a blend of leadership and hands-on work directly with product managers, analysts and engineers to help scale our Wise Platform product offering.  The individual should be an anti-financial crime expert with strong exposure to Correspondent Banking, or Banking-As-A-Service who can leverage their subject matter expertise in the further growth of the Wise Platform. As Wise Platform undergoes continued global expansion, we seek a dedicated individual who shares our commitment to developing a rapidly growing international product. This role aims to uphold the highest standards in combating financial crime by diligently fulfilling all associated regulatory and risk management responsibilities.

Your Mission

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies.  We now need support to scale our Wise Platform product offering in a compliant and structured way across all of our markets.

Your first responsibility will be to establish a compliance roadmap to combat financial crime reflecting on local regulatory expectations and financial crime risk.  You will be expected to guide the wider Wise Platform Product Risk and Compliance team to ensure your vision becomes a tangible, scalable reality through implementing robust framework and controls. 

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Wise Platform Product Compliance team, in the first line: 

Compliance & Implementation:

  • Conduct regulatory analysis to ensure the Global Partner Onboarding program's adequacy and compliance.

  • Drive the implementation of this program across 1LOD operations teams.

  • Offer guidance to Product Managers and Onboarding operations teams on current and upcoming regulations, identifying gaps and risks, and empower team members to do the same.

  • Communicate with bank partners and regulators regarding our product offering and related financial crime controls across all markets.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of  Product Compliance Professionals within Wise Platform Financial Crime.

Risk Management & Monitoring:

  • Develop a global monitoring program to assess risks associated with partners, their customers, and transaction activity presented to Wise globally.

  • Scale the existing transaction monitoring controls program to maintain the effectiveness of Wise Platform's compliance controls for the Correspondent Services product.

  • Implement consistent processes for decision-making on exceptions during the onboarding process and develop a monitoring program for these exceptions across all partners and markets.

  • Engage with Partners when standards vary from those expected, including those in situations where adverse media is identified

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Keep compliance right at the heart of the product development cycle, in a fast-moving environment;  

  • Be empowered to identify ‘regulatory problems’ and take a lead in the solution design and implementation


Salary: £112-160,000 + RSU + Benefits


Qualifications

About you: 

  • You have a background in BaaS or Correspondent Banking anti- financial crime

  • You have experience scaling financial crime controls across a number of markets with particular experience in the UK, EU and US markets

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively;

  • Ability to grow and scale teams to support a rapidly expanding product offering

  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulations together with data to drive business decisions; 

  • Experience (or interest) in working in a fast-growing environment and working directly with product teams; 

  • Willing to travel, as Wise offices are located across different countries; and

  • Legally authorized to work in the UK or willing to relocate
