Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for a seasoned Internal communications leader to lead our internal communications function globally. This role is a unique opportunity to build and scale our communications to, and with, our employees all around the world.

Leading a team based out of London, you’ll do this by building communications strategies that maximise the internal news pipeline, deliver global announcements effectively and help bring our mission to life in creative ways to help inform, engage and inspire a rapidly scaling audience of Wisers around the world. Key initiatives include delivering our twice annual all-company internal conference “Mission Days”, and our regular all-hands “Team Calls”. As part of this role, you’ll also be responsible for working with key stakeholders across the organisation, including our leadership team, to identify and address the evolving needs of the organisation as we continue to expand globally.

You always have your ear to the ground and a finger on the “pulse” of the organisation and know what issues, questions or employees may have, and are comfortable building communications to help address these as and when they arise. You’re not daunted by industry jargon or technical details and know how to dive into the product to understand the details, and then simplify them for your audiences.

You’re proactive, creative and enjoy working in a fast-paced global team and organisation.

Key areas of focus for this role:

  • Deliver an internal communications strategy: Build and drive an internal communications strategy that supports our fast-growing company and helps foster a culture of collaboration

  • “All hands” events: Whether it’s a biweekly team call or a full internal conference twice a year, you’re happy to get your hands dirty and are as comfortable running logistics as you are writing an agenda, developing key messages and briefing documents, and coaching the speakers

  • Delivering new, creative formats: You know that the same old formats can get stale and lead to low employee engagement. You’re excited to bring new, best-practice internal communications channels to a fast-growing organisation.

  • Helping spokespeople: Wise spokespeople are already well versed in presenting, but you should be able to take them from great to best-in-class with feedback on presenting to large teams.

  • Working with leadership team and others to write company updates: Be the first point of contact in crafting key messages about Wise strategy, products and views in a clear, transparent and authentic way with the company, and help translate the work of the varied teams across the organisation into cohesive, single updates that communicate company progress in a succinct and engaging way

  • Be a conduit for Wisers globally and create global inclusion: You have your ear to the ground and a finger on the “pulse” of the organisation. You have experience communicating across widely distributed teams and you know the right way to bring employees all around the world along on a journey of growth and change. You’re excited to develop and implement this for 6,000+ (and growing!) staff across global offices

  • Defining success metrics: You’ve built out your own KPIs and success metrics before for internal communications channels and campaigns; and, you’re excited to build this capability from scratch

Qualifications

What you’ll need:

  • Strong, varied experience in internal communications and content production in a high growth, product or service-led company, including in leadership roles

  • A creative, natural storyteller who can craft clear, compelling messages for a large company. You may be a communications generalist or have specific internal communications (or change management) experience in a growing international company

  • A demonstrable ability to scrutinise complex and technical data and complex concepts and turn them into simple and compelling messages

  • You are a big picture thinker - you can quickly grasp an overall narrative while not losing sight of the crucial details. When there’s no obvious unifying narrative, you can give feedback to help shape one

  • Experience working with company leaders and building the profiles of key spokespeople

  • An ownership mindset with a hands-on, solutions and results driven approach

  • Ability to work proactively, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth company

  • You’re data driven and base decisions on metrics, and have clear KPIs for all your plans

  • A genuine, enthusiastic interest in our mission and developing and communicating great ideas to make financial services fairer

  • You have a naturally global mindset and are open to travel - we’re a global team, so you should feel comfortable spending time travelling and working out of our other offices

  • Excellent written and spoken English

Additional Information

What you’ll get

We offer you a position in one of the UK’s foremost tech companies and a chance to truly be a part of something great. It goes without saying that you’ll be a part of a fun, friendly atmosphere, with plenty of opportunities to grow personally and professionally.

You’ll get a competitive salary, flexible work hours and international travel. Everyone gets shares in the company too, because we believe that what we’re building belongs to each of us.

What is it really like to work here?

At Wise, we do things a bit differently. There’s no corporate nonsense and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in individually responsible teams. Each team owns how they want to solve the problems we’re working on together and gets on with it - so there’s no micro-management or people telling you what to do. You will get tons of guidance and support from talented, super-smart colleagues from all over Wise. The way we work doesn’t suit everyone. But, if the freedom to take on head-scratching professional challenges sounds interesting, we could be a match made in heaven.

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
