Joining our Marketing team where you will lead Wise's upper funnel marketing efforts to deliver our mission.
We’re looking for an experienced Marketing Director to assume responsibility for our upper funnel marketing activities over a 12 month period. Upper funnel at Wise is marketing designed to shift awareness and consideration of the brand, ultimately driving an uplift in new customer registrations. Depending on the market, the media mix typically spans TV, D/OOH, digital (YouTube, Meta, TikTok), radio, influencers, PR stunts and social.
Impact is measured through geo-holdouts across both brand and lower funnel metrics. In 2024 we launched initial tests in two markets across Pacific and NorthAm; in 2025, we plan to add another three markets across Europe, NorthAm and LatAm.
You will be ultimately accountable for the commercial outcomes and ROI of our upper funnel marketing activities. The role means leading and coordinating across a number of different stakeholders: our regional marketing teams; strategy, creative and ops teams; analytics team; and a number of external media and creative agencies. The role reports directly to the CMO.
We’re looking for a Marketing Director on a 12 month contract to join us and do things differently.
What you’ll do.
Ensuring upper funnel activity is delivered to an exceptional executional standard and results in tangible commercial impact — managing any changes to existing plans as you see fit along the way to maximise for success
Shepherding the creative process across both external agencies and our internal creative team to deliver highly effective and localised creative assets
Defining the test and learn agenda within each flight of activity
Diligencing the quality of the media plans proposed by regional teams and external media agencies
Taking overall responsibility for the accurate deployment of spend across both media and creative in line with agreed budgets — and liaising with the finance team on any necessary amends during re-forecasting
Co-ordinating our internal PR, influencer and social teams to develop additional activations and tactics to support the ATL media buy
Evolving and refining the measurement methodology with the analytics team according to the learning agenda and the specifics of each market
Liaising with analytics and insight team to ensure on-time delivery of high quality reporting
Owning the narration of upper funnel KPIs and the overall commercial performance of activity to the senior leadership team and the wider business
The experience, background and competencies needed to succeed in this role
- Experienced marketing leader with a portfolio of brand marketing campaigns across multiple global markets that delivered commercial results.
A track record in delivering standout, memorable creative work.
Ability to shape both creative and media strategy, both upfront and in the weeds of the process, to maximise effectiveness and ensure performance goals are met.
Comfortable challenging analytics reporting and interrogating performance data.
Skilled at narrating brand performance and ROI in a performance marketing-minded business.
