Job Description

The new role sits within our European Product Risk and Compliance team, which is part of the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD). This strategic addition comes in response to the rapid growth of our product offerings and the increasing regulatory pressure and expectation we face in Europe.

We’re looking for a Fincrime Product Compliance Manager to join our growing Product Compliance team in Europe. This role is hands-on, a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a product and compliance manager, and help save millions more people money.  
 

Your Mission: 

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Your mission is to enable our product team in Europe to launch new products and grow our presence in the markets through a deep understanding of the financial crime regulatory requirements and Regulators’ expectations around them. 

This is a first line Product Compliance role, embedded in the Product team. 

You, together with the Wise Europe product team and Wise Financial Crime Product team, will be responsible for:  

Control design: 

  • Support the launch of new products and services by implementing financial crime requirements in a customer-oriented way while fully adhering to regulatory requirements;   

  • Ensure that controls scale with the product by developing ongoing review and monitoring processes. Keeping Wise and its customers compliant while mitigating the risk of financial crime. 

  • Develop smart and scalable ways to support new partnerships while managing associated financial crime risks
     

Financial Crime Risk and remediation:

  • Advise Product and operational teams on how to interpret financial crime regulatory requirements or improve processes to avoid regulatory breaches and/or incidents. 
     

Third Parties Relationships: 

  • Represent Wise in external meetings with Banking Partners and Regulators, being able to clearly and effectively articulate Wise Platform 
     

This role will give you the opportunity to:

Qualifications

  • Min 5 years of relevant experience working in financial crime controls in a financial institution, fintech or consulting firm.

  • Fluent in English (French and/or Dutch is a plus)

  • Familiar with EU financial crime regulation and regulatory expectations

  • Ability to define, present and defend approaches when challenged.

  • Ability to prioritise effectively and call-out what are the key areas of improvement and implementation required from a regulatory point of view; 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Product Managers and Engineers and provide practical, actionable, and value added recommendations; 

  • Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions; 

  • A natural owner, that drives and delivers project from inception to completion, timely and with attention to the details; 

  • Ability to interpret data and create actionable insights / proposals

  • Proven ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable Business Requirements actionable

  • Willingness to travel; and legally authorised to work in Belgium
