Salary Range - INR 40,00,000 - INR 50,00,000 Per Annum + RSU's
Wise has pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Our customers can also manage their money with international multi-currency accounts.
Your mission is to work with and enable our India Product, Compliance, & Risk teams to launch new products and manage our risk profile through a deep understanding of local regulatory requirements and expectations.
This role provides a unique, hands-on opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission and help save millions more people money. This is a first line of defence (“1LOD”) hands-on role, embedded in the APAC Product Squad, based in our Hyderabad hub.
Here’s how you’ll be contributing:
Collaborate on Product Design:
Deeply understand regulatory needs and translate them into solutions for the Product
Empower Product Teams to build risk based products, processes, and controls;
Collaborate to design practical and customer-oriented product solutions while ensuring full compliance of the product;
Perform pre-launch and ongoing product compliance legal and regulatory analysis and risk assessments; and
Design scalable and customer-centric solutions to regulatory requirements;
Offer effective advice to Product Managers on existing and forthcoming Regulations, gaps, and risks.
Manage and Mitigate Regulatory Risks and the Control Environment:
As part of the Product Compliance & Risk Team, with an India focus, you will identify and manage FinCrime & Regulatory Risks across all products offered to customers in India
Oversee the control environment for our India offering, designing effective, creative and targeted controls, and evaluating the residual risk exposure
Collaborate with second line of defence (“2LOD”) Compliance & Risk colleagues, to ensure Wise Product Teams are constantly aware of the most recent regulations and guidance
Work with Product Teams and the wider Compliance & Risk TeamS to implement and maintain Management Information that enables Wise to make informed decisions at the regional and Global levels
Audit, issue management and remediation:
Support & drive audit responses and, where required, challenge audit findings in collaboration with 2LOD Compliance and Product teams
Develop and deliver effective issue management to mitigate FinCrime & Regulatory risks
Represent Wise in meetings with banking partners, auditors, bank regulators, & other agencies, being able to clearly and effectively articulate Wise’s products and compliance framework
This role will give you the opportunity to:

Be empowered to identify ‘regulatory problems’ and opportunities and take a lead in the solution design and implementation
Expert in FinCrime & Regulatory compliance, having a background & knowledge of Financial Regulations & Payment Systems in India with 8+ years of experience.
Ability to analyse and interpret complex regulatory frameworks and apply them effectively
You have experience dealing with regulatory audits and understand the expectations of local regulators/policymakers in India
Experience collaborating with product and engineering teams to develop KYC and/or financial crime controls, preferably in cross-border payments business
Ability to effectively communicate regulatory requirements with Product Managers and Engineers and provide practical, actionable, and value added recommendations
Experience (or interest) in working in a fast-growing environment and working directly with product teams
Problem solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions
A natural owner, that drives and delivers project from inception to completion, timely and with attention to the details
A true team player with a collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders across global teams
A sense of camaraderie and good humour while under pressure or tight deadlines and
Wisdom, a world view and talent for thinking outside the box
