We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payin Platform team in London, United Kingdom. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend systems that power our cutting-edge payment platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global customer base.

• Design and implement high-performance, scalable backend services for our payment platform
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to define and implement new features
• Optimize existing systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and performance
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for integration with internal and external systems
• Implement security measures to protect sensitive financial data and ensure compliance with industry regulations
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the team's technical decision-making process
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing initiatives
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in backend development and payment systems

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable and reliable systems
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go
• Extensive experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
• In-depth knowledge of database systems, including both SQL and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their associated services
• Expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git
• Strong understanding of payment systems and financial transactions
• Knowledge of security best practices for handling sensitive financial data
• Familiarity with payment industry regulations and compliance requirements
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Experience with agile development methodologies
• Relevant certifications in cloud platforms or payment systems are a plus
