About the role
We are looking for an experienced engineer to join the Application Engineering team.
Our team’s mission is to set the golden standard for what a service looks like here at Wise; how it is built and operated, so that it is easy to work with, is reliable and satisfies security requirements.
We’re looking for a person with a background in product engineering looking to move into a foundational team.
You’ll dive right into projects in multiple domains — starting from dependency management and microservice chassis framework — finishing with fine details on how we interact with DBs, consume kafka messages or talk between services.
There are plenty of core cross-cutting domains you can dig your hands into and scale across hundreds of services and engineers.
We aim to help teams build great products faster, maintain them effortlessly and evolve them with confidence.

We’re looking for people who can step back and think holistically about the ecosystem, and customer needs, then follow through and implement just the right solution for the problem. We don’t do it alone, we work with teammates and grow stronger for it.
Once we build that solution — we help teams adopt it, and make sure it fits the changing needs of ever increasing fleet of services.

What do you need?
Experience in building/maintaining products using Java in a production environment
You understand the value of balancing customer centric thinking and technical skills and can coach other engineers on both
You enjoy working in a collaborative environment, own projects to completion and lead others by example
