Job Description

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Software Engineer - Productivity Tooling to join our dynamic Productivity Engineering team. Our team is at the heart of ensuring our employees have the best possible productivity tools and processes to excel. This isn't just about maintaining systems; it's about building the future of internal efficiency by designing and implementing custom API integrations and bespoke software solutions that directly address team pain points.

How we work

We operate on a strong belief in automation, programmatic implementation, and reusable design. We’re looking for people who can step back and think holistically about the ecosystem, but also follow through and help implement the design, drawing on the resources across the rest of the platform tribe.

As we grow, we need to sustain this growth by continuously iterating on the services we run, with a focus on availability, security, and ease of use. We’re looking for an engineer with relevant experience who can analyse complex requirements and deliver simple solutions to help our teams achieve our mission with speed and confidence.

What will you be working on?

  • Crafting Custom Solutions: Design, develop, and implement custom API integrations and bespoke software solutions that directly address team pain points and elevate operational efficiency across the organization.

  • Driving Automation Excellence: Lead the charge in automating complex workflows, leveraging concepts like Configuration as Code and Jobs as Code to ensure scalable, maintainable, and robust solutions across platforms like Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and Workato.

  • Architecting Microservices for Automation: Design and deploy your automation scripts and solutions as resilient, scalable microservices, ensuring high availability and performance.

  • Mentoring & Elevating Talent: Act as a technical coach and mentor, sharing your expertise in software engineering practices to uplift the skills and capabilities of our engineering teams.

  • Strategic Tooling Development: Contribute significantly to the strategic roadmap for our productivity tooling, ensuring our solutions are aligned with Wiser’s rapid growth and evolving needs.

  • Driving Intelligent Automation: Possibility to leverage the power of Productivity Tooling and their native AI (i.e. Atlassian Suite, Google Workspace, Workato, and Slack) to design and deploy AI-driven solutions to improve experience for Wise employees.

Qualifications

  • Deep Expertise in API Integrations: Proven ability to design and implement robust native and custom API integrations and build tailored software solutions.

  • Automation Mastermind: Strong understanding and practical experience with Configuration as Code and Jobs as Code principles.

  • Scripting Language Mastery: Highly proficient in Python, for automation and solution development.

  • Microservices Acumen: Experience designing and deploying scripts/applications within a microservice architecture.

  • Query Language Proficiency: Experience with query languages like SQL, JQL, or CQL to power data-informed decisions and insights.

  • Software Engineering Advocate: Demonstrated ability to coach and elevate engineers in best-in-class software engineering practices (e.g., testing, version control, CI/CD).

  • Lean & Data-Informed Decision Making: Experience with product mindset or lean methodologies with delivering value.

Bonus skills / experience:

  • Deep experience or strong understanding of programming and automation within native platforms like Atlassian (Jira, Confluence APIs), Google Workspace, Workato, or similar low-code/no-code solutions.

  • Familiarity with compliance standards relevant to productivity and collaboration tooling.

  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD and infrastructure as code.

  • Ability to integrate with and manage Large Language Model (LLM) and/or AI services through real-time APIs, utilizing gateways for scalable and efficient solutions.

  • Having experience with AWS Lambda or other serverless frameworks.
