Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.
Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.
As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.
More about our mission and what we offer.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Product Engineer to join the Servicing Platform Squad / Risk Assessment Group. You'll be instrumental in building the core Risk Triggering API and its underlying platform, which is critical for real-time transaction and user behavior risk assessment.
This role sits at the intersection of Product and Financial Crime (FinCrime) teams, offering a unique opportunity to gain deep expertise in both fast-paced product development and the stringent requirements of financial security and compliance.
You will be the driving force behind the platform's reliability and integrity, focusing on:
API Excellence: Defining and owning the API contracts in close collaboration with Product and FinCrime teams.
Data Integrity: Establishing best practices for Data Quality, Data Lineage, and Data Governance within the risk assessment pipeline.
Scalable Solutions: Designing and implementing robust solutions that can be quickly understood and scaled across multiple distinct risk domains and products.
Problem-Solving: Diving into complex domain problems, identifying the root causes, and proposing elegant, scalable engineering solutions.
What will you be working on?
You will join the team at a pivotal moment, with your contributions being immediately visible and critical to the success of the entire Risk Assessment platform.
The core challenge for the team—and your immediate focus—is to fundamentally re-engineer the current integration between our Product and Financial Crime (FinCrime) domains.
Your immediate impact will be to:
Define the Future Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable abstractions that satisfy the needs of both fast-moving Product teams and compliance-critical FinCrime teams.
Establish Integrity: Set the engineering standard for data quality, lineage, and API contracts from day one, building a foundation of reliability.
Solve the Abstraction Problem: Build the Risk Triggering API that cleanly separates the business logic of risk assessment from underlying systems, moving the organization away from tight, brittle coupling.
Accelerate Delivery: Directly enable faster, safer feature development for Product while significantly strengthening the defensive posture of the FinCrime Group.
In short, you will be designing the core contract that governs how the company assesses and manages financial risk for years to come.
