In this role, you’ll be a key partner in managing our regulatory obligations within consumer compliance and financial crime (KYC, AML, Sanctions, Fraud), particularly as they relate to our LATAM Wise entities..

As part of the Compliance Assurance team in Brazil, you will be responsible for the implementation of compliance testing and monitoring plans for the region. Your role will include overseeing the assurance of processes and controls, actively collaborating with various teams to drive strategic product growth in a scalable manner and in full compliance with regulations.

If you're passionate about building systems that make financial compliance smart, scalable, and transparent—and you’re excited to work at the intersection of tech and regulation—we’d love to hear from you.

Your mission:

As a Compliance Assurance Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring Wise's adherence to regulatory requirements, particularly concerning our second-line monitoring and testing program. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s products and get to know teams across Wise as you work with them to understand and review controls and regulatory framework.

  • Support and contribute to compliance monitoring and testing by assisting in the creation and execution of a monitoring and testing plan for the LATAM region, where you will identify areas for improvement and collaborate with key stakeholders to strengthen our compliance program.

  • Own new strategic projects that emerge within the compliance assurance program, ensuring alignment with broader organizational goals.

  • Showcase your problem-solving skills, by supporting the design of new processes and liaising with multiple teams to drive remediation of  control gaps or process enhancements.

  • Collaborate on cross team projects that focus on delivering impact and growth for the LatAM region!

About you:

  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crime Compliance (AML/CTF/CPF) or a related internal/external audit function within the Financial services or Fintech sectors. You have demonstrated experience in leading compliance programs or significant compliance projects, particularly in a cross-border or multi-jurisdictional context and in-depth knowledge of the Brazilian regulatory landscape for payments, e-money, or investments.

  • Technical skills: Expert-level understanding of risks and controls, including emerging threats and typologies relevant to digital payments and cross-border transactions.

  • You have strong analytical capabilities to identify and interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable compliance strategies and operational procedures.

  • You are proficient in assessing the effectiveness of control environments and recommending robust enhancements.

  • Project management and communication. You have the ability to own multiple complex compliance initiatives simultaneously, from conception to implementation and post-implementation review.

  • You can articulate complex compliance concepts, risks, and solutions clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including senior management, technical teams and external stakeholders.

  • You have the ability to influence and negotiate with various internal and external parties to drive compliance objectives and achieve consensus.

  • Innovation. You have a passion for compliance operational efficiency and are able to leverage technology and data analytics to enhance compliance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • You have collaborated with product, engineering, and data teams to develop and implement innovative, data-driven solutions for compliance monitoring, testing, and risk management.

  • You are proactive in identifying and adopting new technologies and methodologies to streamline compliance processes.

  • Autonomous: Highly self-motivated and results-oriented, with the ability to operate independently and take ownership of significant compliance initiatives.

  • You are able to adapt to rapidly evolving regulatory environments and business priorities, effectively managing change and its impact on compliance programs.

  • You have strong decision-making skills to assess complex situations, identify risks, and propose practical, compliant solutions. Capable of working with minimal supervision while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes.

Some extra skills that would be great:

  • Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Confluence, Jira, and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms.

  • Experience working with international teams and understanding of global regulatory environments.

  • Experience interacting with regulatory bodies and managing regulatory examinations.

  • International certifications on Governance, Risk and Compliance, Financial crime prevention or Compliance with management systems.

  • Experience with advanced analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Python) for data analysis, visualization, and automation in a compliance context.

Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.

And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.
