Job Description

Location: London, UK

Type: Paid Internship (Full-time, Fixed Term – 5months)

Team: Policy & Government Relations

The team and the project

Each year, Wise publishes its G20 Report, an independent scorecard and policy analysis assessing progress by G20 members against the G20 Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-Border Payments, which includes targets for speed, access, cost and transparency in international payments.

As we prepare the third edition (2026), you will be part of the small London-based team that leads the research, data gathering, compiling and editing of this flagship publication. You’ll work closely with colleagues across our global Government Relations, communications and banking teams to collect evidence, engage with regulators, and produce a report that shapes debate at the G20 and Financial Stability Board (FSB) level.

What you’ll do

  • Support research and analysis for the 2026 G20 Report – gathering information on regulation, policy developments and market data across G20 members.
  • Track policy and legislative changes affecting cross-border payments, non-bank access to payment schemes and price transparency in coordination with Wise’s regional policy and banking leads.
  • Assist with drafting and editing sections of the report, including country profiles, policy summaries and scorecard commentary.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement, helping prepare briefings for meetings with policymakers, central banks, and international organisations.
  • Coordinate data validation with our external research partners and analysts to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the GR team, including project management duties such as meeting minutes, managing deadlines, and maintaining research trackers.
  • Support the launch of the G20 Report, contributing to launch planning and execution across communications channels, including social media, short-form video, LinkedIn content, stakeholder briefings, and external events.

Qualifications

About you

  • You’re in your final year of university or a recent graduate with a strong interest in international relations, public policy, economics, or finance.
  • You have excellent written and analytical skills, with an ability to distil complex information clearly and concisely.
  • You’re curious about how financial systems work – and how good regulation can make them more competitive and transparent.
  • You’re organised and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple research tasks at once.
  • You’re confident working in an international environment and comfortable collaborating across time zones and functions.
  • You will be a natural self-starter, demonstrably able to manage your time productively, capable of framing your approach and then meeting your stated objectives to deliver on a project.
  • Prior experience in research, public affairs, financial policy, or journalism is a plus, but not essential.
  • The ability to fluently read or write a language that covers any G20 markets in our Report is a bonus, but not essential.

Additional Information

What you’ll get

  • The opportunity to contribute directly to an internationally recognised publication used by policymakers, central banks, and G20 institutions.
  • Exposure to the workings of global financial policy and Wise’s engagement with governments and regulators around the world.
  • Mentorship from experienced policy professionals and insight into Wise’s mission to build fairer global payments.
  • A collaborative, open environment where your ideas will be heard and valued.
  • You will have the ability to work autonomously with guiding support from your colleagues and lead.

Additional information

  • This internship is based in our London office, with flexibility for hybrid working.
  • The internship will run from May to October 2026 (exact dates tbc).
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK full time. Students with visa restrictions on their ability to work in the UK are not eligible to apply
