Job Description

We are seeking a Global Program Lead to join our Banking & Expansion Team in London to lead the Program Management function for the team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to further enhance and transform our existing project management framework in a global and scalable fashion in order to drive efficiencies and cross functional collaboration. 

This global role, managing a small team will focus on scaling efficiency, identifying growth initiatives, and mitigating risk within Wise's international operations, which span 35 countries. 

You will oversee and drive the successful delivery of various projects aimed at enhancing our Banking team, expanding our global reach and ensuring alignment with Wise's strategic objectives. The goal is to transform Banking at Wise from a series of regional efforts into a unified, high-performance global engine. You will own the "How" of Banking, defining the standards for risk management, the way we expand, and the toolkit for partner performance.

Your mission: to enhance collaboration and prioritisation with other teams, and to build and embed process improvements in an efficient and scalable way across a global team, allowing Wise to scale more efficiently.

 

Key workstreams will include: 

  • Risk leadership, addressing and closing issues and gaps,

  • Expansion enablement, creating frameworks and guides to enable efficient expansion

  • Governance of Banking activity, including support of budgeting and headcount forecasting

  • Organisation and facilitation of banking ceremonies,

  • Creation and maintenance of dashboards to monitor partner performance and risk

  • Knowledge management and committee management.

Stakeholder Collaboration: 

  • You will work collaboratively with global internal teams, including Product, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and Treasury across different geographies to ensure that project objectives are met and aligned with company goals.

  • Influence senior leads across Product, Treasury, and Finance to align on prioritisation and unblock cross-functional dependencies.

Process Improvement: 

  • You will work with the global team, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and implement best practices to enhance efficiencies within the Banking Team, and lead on bringing those opportunities to life. 

  • You will be responsible for introducing key program management principles, frameworks to increase efficiencies across our ways of working (eg Agile/ waterfall) 

Governance & Risk

  • You will continue to embed the risk mitigation framework we are establishing, alongside negotiating appropriate controls that protect the business without sacrificing operational velocity

  • You will work closely with central teams to ensure policies and procedures align with the operations and ambitions of the Banking team

Reporting: 

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, risk assessments, and post-project evaluations.

Team Leadership: 

  • You will lead a small team of Project Managers and you will be able to mentor them to provide project delivery excellence and best practices.

 


Qualifications

You are a seasoned Program Manager who doesn't just "follow" a process, you build them. You have a proven track record of establishing credibility and exerting influence in complex, fast-paced environments.

  • Regulatory experience: You have deep experience in financial services or fintech, specifically working within regulated environments

  • Strong communicator: You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with, and influencing stakeholders at all levels.  You will be highly collaborative and excellent at building relationships quickly and working cross functions and locations. 

  • Governance minded: You find satisfaction in translating legal and regulatory requirements into scalable operational processes, and enjoy finding pragmatic solutions to risk requirements. 

  • Structured & organised: You are "pro-structure." You find joy in turning ambiguity into workflows, a clean Wiki, or a programmatic source of truth.

  • Adaptable: Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously whilst communicating effectively and thoughtfully, varying your style based on the circumstance

  • Strategic operator: You are keen to roll up your sleeves and get the job done, balancing operational and strategic work 

  • Leadership ability: You have demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, and a strong track record of keeping external stakeholders and team members accountable.

  • Data driven: You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail, using data to inform your decisions and strategy.  

  • Global mindset: The Banking team is truly global in its nature and you will understand that ‘thinking globally’ is not just jargon but its key to the successful delivery of a global program of work

  • Qualifications: You might have recognised qualifications in program, portfolio, project or change management
