Wise is looking to hire a Senior Financial Controller for Wise National Trust (WNT) who will report directly to the WNT CFO and work closely with teams across Wise as well as interface with senior leaders, auditors, regulators and other key stakeholders. This individual will be among the key members of the finance team responsible for building out WNT’s financial accounting, control and reporting infrastructure. This includes internal reporting as well as regulatory reporting produced for the the Office of Comptroller of Currencies (OCC).
The Controller will join as a key member of the WNT finance team and will be responsible for setting up financial controls, reporting infrastructure and plan for internal, external and regulator audits. This individual will also be responsible for putting in place the key piece parts required for WNT to report to the regulator (OCC) accurately on a quarterly basis via the FFIEC Call report.
7+ years of experience in an accounting and controlling ideally at a Bank, Fintech or a Trust
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS and mature financial controls and a strong understanding of accounting principles
Well versed in finance and accounting terminology and have the ability to understand the importance of tax and regulatory rules & frameworks
Setting up and producing regulatory reporting for Federal or State regulators
Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and relationship management skills to deal effectively with internal stakeholders such as bank leadership and board as well as external stakeholders such as auditors.
Demonstrated financial literacy, numeracy, analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret financial and investment statements, financial regulation, financial reporting and legal documents.
Proven ability to manage fiduciary risk and compliance within a regulated financial institution and within the scope of your role
Comfortable managing a complex stakeholder group internally and externally to the organisation on a regular basis, submitting reports, clarifying requirements, etc.
Self-starter that’s ready to roll up your sleeves and get things done
Detail oriented, with ability to deliver and communicate complex areas on time and succinctly
- Experience in a similar role at a Bank, Trust Company or Fintech Company
- Direct experience producing FFIEC call reports is a plus
