Driving Product Decisions Through Data Insights

Posting date: 14/10/26

"We bring together researchers, engineers, and analysts from across the entire company to tackle real customer bottlenecks—it’s fast-paced, deeply collaborative, and immensely rewarding."

Tell us about your career journey so far

My start in analytics was more or less accidental.

I was studying physics in Australia and ended-up getting a part time job at a local start-up that was building “location-triggered marketing messages” through mobile apps and was looking for their first analyst.

This accidental match started a rollercoaster journey that involved scaling a start-up across Asia, taking me to live in Hong Kong and Malaysia for several years, working with exciting clients such as GCash, Tesco and Visa across Southeast Asia.

When COVID came around and I moved back to Europe I was looking to move to a more established company known for a strong product culture so I could develop myself further. I also wanted to learn more established product development patterns and work with some of the smartest people in the industry - and having been a long-time Wise customer this was an easy choice.

Wise did not disappoint! I really got the opportunity to scale my impact and grow as a lead; from supporting a team focussed on accepting card-payments, to building several high functioning analytics teams across payment processing, acquiring and now Wise Business.

What surprised you most about working in analytics here compared to your previous roles?

How empowered analysts are! Analysts are embedded directly in product teams and are in the driver seat; helping the team navigate in the right direction.

Collaborating closely with the Product Manager, they work to understand what the key problems our customers face and what solutions the team should develop to help solve these.

When engineers start to implement these solutions, analysts stay closely connected to understand how they can measure the impact once it gets shipped; ensuring we are able to track the right signals.

Once shipped, analysts track the realized impact and drive the retro; did we solve the customer's problem as expected? If so, what’s next? If not, what did we learn, and what opportunity should we tackle next?

What are some key projects you're working on?

Our Wise Business solutions were originally built on top of our consumer solutions, but as we started to scale this further and talked more with businesses, we’ve learned that businesses interact with our products very differently. Their focus is more on convenience (time saved) in their operational processes.

Currently, with my teams, we’re diving deeper into this - leveraging a combination of qualitative and quantitative research to better understand the needs of these larger businesses, what the current bottlenecks across our entire product offering is and how we could tackle this.

We’re bringing together analysts and researchers from across Wise, going deep into activation funnels, identifying power-users and relentless segmentation.

What excites you about the future of Analytics at Wise?

This is by far the most exciting time I’ve seen in analytics. In an incredibly short time, AI has changed our ways of working more than I ever thought possible!

Whilst we see our ways of working changing and our impact increasing as a result of this (both in terms of quality of output, but especially efficiency), I still believe there is a lot more to gain as we better understand how to effectively deploy AI at scale.

I’m currently investing time in streamlining our team workflows. While individual team members have made great strides adopting AI, there's even greater value in centralizing solutions for our common repetitive tasks and building a stronger foundation for our AI tools (such as enriching context within our semantic layer for AI agents). We’re collaborating closely with our Analytics Engineering team on this initiative.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect is how AI has democratized analytics tools across the organization. It empowers junior analysts to leverage advanced techniques early in their careers that previously required years of experience to master.

What non-technical skill has been most critical to your success as a Lead?

Not just as a lead, but across my career communication skills have always been the most influential factor in driving impact.

As analysts, our work is aimed at inspiring people to take action based on data. We need to persuade product teams to focus their energy in a specific direction to solve a user problem.

To achieve that, packaging insights into a clear narrative—tailored to your audience with intuitive metrics, clear visuals, and structure—is just as vital as discovering the insight itself.
