This policy explains how Wise collect and process your data for your participation in our alumni Slack channel in accordance with GDPR guidelines. Please read the information carefully and if you have any questions about how we protect or use your data, email us at [email protected].

What is meant by personal data and why are we collecting it?

Personal data refers to any information that can be used to identify a specific individual, directly or indirectly.

This data is sourced from the email you’ll be asked to send in order to join the Slack group.

We will only collect your data to add you into our alumni Slack community, and from time to time we might invite you to alumni events. We’ll never use your data for any other purposes than outlined in our Alumni Slack Privacy Policy.

We’ll collect your data at the point you click “submit” on your application to the Alumni Slack. From there, we’ll transfer your email address to Slack’s interface, and will only keep it there. We’ll keep no other trace of your data in our systems, your name and email, along with any other information you decide to share on Slack, will only live there.

What information will we collect from you?

When you request to be added into Wise’s alumni group, we’ll ask you for your name, email, position at Wise, and year when you left Wise. This will help us identify new joiners. The details about your work at Wise are only to confirm you’ve been an employee, and will not be used from that point forward. Your name and email will be transferred to Slack to add you into the group. Once this is done, we’ll not keep any track of that information outside of Slack.

How long will we keep your data?

Data collected via email when making a request to [email protected] will be deleted weekly.

After the closure of your Alumni Slack account, we will retain your personal information for a period of 30 days, unless you otherwise request that we delete it sooner. When you’ve hit that time, the personal data from your Slack account will be deleted.

You’ll be able to leave the Slack Workspace and request that we delete the data we hold on you at any time by emailing [email protected].

Who do we share your personal data with?

Your personal information will be shared with the following third parties:
