Embracing opportunity: Meet Lindsay Carbone

Lindsay Carbone, Senior Implementation Manager at Wise Platform, shares insights from her journey since joining the team and how she got to where she is today.

Can you share your journey before joining Wise Platform? 

I've been at Wise for two years now. Before joining, I was working in the alternative investment industry, focusing on B2B integrations with enterprises. This experience gave me valuable skills in problem-solving, relationship-building and project management - all of which have proven transferable to my current role on the Wise Platform team.

What inspired you to apply to Wise Platform?

Interestingly, I was sourced by a recruiter through LinkedIn. Initially, I was interested in the product, I spoke with the team and realised this was an incredible opportunity at a fast-growing business. What truly drew me in was Wise's mission to make cross-border payments faster, more affordable and more transparent - something I firmly believe in.

When comparing Wise Platform to other companies in the industry, what stood out to you as unique or differentiating?

One of the things that really impressed me was the culture of empowerment. You often hear about companies promoting this, but it doesn’t always play out in practice. At Wise, it’s very much a reality. There's a genuine openness to listening and trying new ways of working, regardless of title or tenure. 

As a woman within a male dominated industry, I’ve had to find and use my voice, but I’ve been empowered to do so. At Wise, there’s an openness to diverse perspectives, and it’s been incredible to contribute and be heard. 

Was there anything about Wise Platform that surprised you after joining? 

What surprised me was how nimble we are, even though Wise is a large company. Despite the scale, working with the product teams across Wise has been incredibly efficient. I’ve learned to be comfortable with ambiguity—sometimes you have to figure things out on the fly. The pace is fast, but the collaboration is global, and there’s a strong sense that if we can identify a need, we can quickly come up with a solution. It’s a great environment for problem-solving.



In what ways has working on Wise’s Platform helped you grow or develop new skills? 

Working on Wise Platform has been an incredible learning experience, especially when it comes to international payments. I’ve learned so much about the industry, particularly around infrastructure, cost efficiencies and transparency. A standout moment for me was hosting my first Wise Connect, which is an external-facing flagship conference that takes place once a year. It was a huge challenge—public speaking was never something I had envisioned myself doing. But I embraced it, and now I actually look forward to those opportunities. 

For someone with a background similar to yours who’s considering a move, what advice would you give? 

Stay open to learning. You know more than you think, and this is a place where you can trust your skillset and abilities. 

It’s also important to build your network early. At a company like Wise, you’ll quickly learn that it’s okay not to have all the answers, but knowing who to go to for support is crucial. If you're considering a move, I’d absolutely recommend Wise Platform. It’s an incredible place to grow, both personally and professionally.

How would you describe the culture at Wise? 

The culture at Wise is by far the most diverse I’ve ever encountered. It’s been an amazing learning experience, and I’ve been able to grow and develop quickly because of it. One of the things I appreciate most is that we celebrate our successes, and that’s reflected in initiatives like Mission Days. These are unique opportunities where we come together as a global team to reflect on how we are progressing against our mission and clarify what our future focus should be, as well as celebrate our achievements. I’ve never worked anywhere else where there’s such a strong focus on both hard work and recognition of success.
