Reflections from Wise's Parents and Carers Community

Posting date: 29/7/25

Our Wise Parents and Carers Community recently brought everyone together for a 'Connecting Our Wise Parents on Leave' event 🎉

Check out their insights from the event ⬇️

Annika Teede, organiser of event: At Wise, we're all about creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all our employees. One of the ways we do this is through our 13 global Communities, which are all about bringing people together. Our Parents and Carers community is a welcoming space for parents, carers, those expecting, and anyone interested in parenting.

Recently, we hosted a series of events, including a ‘Connecting our Wise Parents on Leave’ gathering in Tallinn. We asked some of our team members to share their insights from the event. Here’s what they had to say:

What part of the event resonated most with you?

Kadi: Honestly, I wasn't sure what to expect when I approached the new office. I had been away from work for quite some time due to maternity leave, and the thought of rejoining my team was naturally daunting. However, as soon as I stepped through the door, I was greeted with kindness, smiles, and positive energy.

"While the office itself is undeniably cool, what truly impressed me was the warm welcome I received from both the office team and fellow parents."

Kadi Karron (She/Her)

RFI Senior Specialist

It was reassuring to see and hear that many of us felt a bit anxious at first, but we were all excited to return to the work environment, even if only for a short while.

Goodnews: I was so glad to have received an invitation for an office tour in the new office location with my little one after being away for a while. The fact we’ve designed a parent room in the new location was the highlight of the event for me. It goes to show how much effort Wise puts into making us have a beautiful and inspiring workplace.

I also got the chance to meet other amazing parents and their babies!

How has being part of the parents and carers community at work made a difference for you?

Goodnews: It's been quite an experience so far, with its own challenges, but it's always worth it. Having the full support from Wise and colleagues makes it much easier to settle in, and for that, I am grateful.

Kadi: Being a parent is tough, and I'm sure every parent can agree. However, knowing that you're supported by your employer and colleagues is a great feeling. It's comforting to share and discuss both daily struggles and small victories related to your kids. Other parents always understand, and it feels amazing to know that you are not alone.

What advice would you share with other working parents and carers?

Kadi: Be kind to yourself! Kids are only small once, and being a parent is the most important job you'll ever have. Remember, there's an office full of supportive people waiting for you when you decide to return from maternity or parental leave.

"Take it one day at a time. Enjoy the chaos and beautiful moments with your little ones. When it's time to get back to work, know that you have every Wise colleague there to support you every step of the way.”
