Tell us about your journey before joining Wise Platform

My career began in e-commerce startups, where I was involved in building products from the ground up. I quickly gravitated towards fintech and payments - first working on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) based products, followed by a brief stint designing a payment gateway for a bank. This path led me to investment banking in the UK, managing high-value payments for global clients.

I joined Wise because I wanted the ability to drive impact by designing and launching solutions for some of the world's leading companies - but also help shape the strategy of the products we take to market at a global scale. Wise’s culture stood out as it nurtures a drive to do what’s right, the empowerment to make it happen, and a shared mission. And within Wise Platform, I’ve found the perfect blend of staying close to engineering while working with partners, and gaining exposure to the wider business.

For those who don’t know, what does it mean to be a Solutions Engineer at Wise Platform?

Being a Solutions Engineer at Wise Platform means being the technical bridge between our clients and our products — making sure integrations are seamless, secure, and scalable.

My team and I work closely with clients to consult on requirements, design application programming interface (API) based solutions, and guide them through testing and launch. This can include talking with product teams, engineers or senior stakeholders depending on the client and phase of the integration. Internally, I work with Commercial, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams globally to validate designs, prioritise features, and ensure reliability in production. Success here requires deep API and architecture knowledge, combined with clear, empathetic communications skills to be able to ‘translate’ between technical and non-technical stakeholders. Being flexible to work through issues and solve problems are also key when unexpected challenges arise.

Every integration I deliver with our team moves us closer to achieving Wise’s mission—making cross-border payments faster, cheaper, and more transparent for everyone, everywhere.

Plus, as a Solutions Engineer at Wise, you’ll have the opportunity to travel and meet a wide variety of clients in person, building strong relationships with teams to ensure a seamless integration for customers.

What are some of the exciting technical challenges that Solutions Engineers get to tackle?

At Wise, Solutions Engineers tackle some of the most exciting technical challenges in payments– there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Each client comes with a unique tech stack and set of requirements. Every integration demands real-world problem solving - while also pushing us to design scalable, adaptable solutions that flex to fit diverse use-cases, without reinventing the wheel each time. For instance, when working with Monzo, UK’s largest digital bank, I consulted closely with their Product & Engineering teams to leverage Wise’s infrastructure within their ecosystem and deliver an exceptional product experience to millions of customers.

When Morgan Stanley, a leading global financial services firm, became the first investment bank to partner with Wise Platform, our Solutions Engineers were instrumental in designing new product capabilities that met their needs. These capabilities were compliant, secure and scalable, and are now used by partners across the world.

It’s not just about launching products or features, our Solution Engineers also help expand Wise Platform into new markets. For example, when launching our multi-currency account and cards product offering in Brazil with Nubank, one of the world's largest digital banks. Our Solutions Engineers traveled to Brazil and worked with large cross-functional teams both within Wise and Nubank to deliver an exceptional customer experience, taking into consideration local nuances and  regulatory considerations.

Whether it’s debugging, scaling solutions for millions of users, or building new features from scratch, at Wise Platform, you’ll certainly be working on something that challenges both your technical skills and creativity.

How has your role evolved over time?

Being at Wise for three years now, my role has evolved quite significantly. Initially, I focused on driving technical integrations, working hands-on to ensure each partner could launch quickly and provide a smooth global payments experience for their customers. Coming from a purely engineering background, I learned the ins and outs of cross-border payments and had the opportunity to work on a number of exciting integrations with some of the largest banks in EMEA, including N26, Monzo, and Raiffeisen Bank.

As I settled into my role, I shifted from just getting things working to seeing how our product fits into the bigger picture for each partner's business goals. This meant focusing on understanding their needs, making integrations smoother, all while maintaining security and quality. I'm now in a leadership position, mentoring new engineers, growing the team, and driving our regional strategy to ensure we deliver at scale.

How would you describe the culture at Wise?

The culture at Wise is dynamic, inclusive and mission-driven. One of the best things about working here is Mission Days, where Wisers from across the globe gather to discuss and celebrate our progress towards our mission. It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to recalibrate and understand how we’re achieving our goals as a company. It’s a time when we also hear directly from our leadership about our progress and future direction.

But it’s not all work – Mission Days also offer a great opportunity to meet colleagues in person, have fun, and build connections across teams. Check out our recent Mission Days video if you want to see what it’s like!

How can individuals proactively contribute and make a meaningful impact when they join Wise Platform?

There are countless opportunities to make a meaningful impact from day one. You'll have real ownership to explore how things work, get to know our products, and see first-hand how the products that we build benefit our customers.

To hit the ground running, I always encourage new team members to bring their curiosity and take ownership of their work. Look beyond your role and understand how your contributions can fit into our mission. If you spot a better way to do something, share it —your ideas will be valued, and everyone is empowered (and encouraged!) to help shape how we operate.

Collaboration is a huge part of our culture and DNA. You’ll have the chance to connect with people from global teams, learn how the pieces fit together, and quickly find where your skills add the most value.

What advice would you give to someone applying for Wise Platform?

When applying, emphasise what sets you apart — whether it's your problem-solving skills, how you work with others, or how you adapt to new challenges. We care about impact, but we also care about how you get there.

You don't have to fit a mold — Wise thrives on unique perspectives, innovative ideas, and fresh energy. If you’re looking for a place to grow, learn from talented colleagues, and help shape the future of money movement, Wise Platform is an excellent choice.
